Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure

Rachel Carson

I want to thank Rachel Carson who died this day in 1964. She taught us all ways we could preserve nature and the environment. To this day I think twice about my carbon footprint. Her statement above is something I consider as a foundational truth in my life. The beauty of nature does give me strength, and it does motivate me to work to preserve what we have for future generations.

I know I’m not alone in thanking Rachel today.
